During long-term operation, what key daily operational conditions should injection molding robots focus on to minimize downtime and reduce costs?

A

To maintain long-term stable operation, injection molding robots always require close attention to key component wear, abnormal noises, and operational status. Performing the following 6 core daily checks can effectively reduce breakdown downtime and significantly extend equipment service life:

01. Guide Rails & Bearings          Cleaning & Lubrication
Keep the guide rails and bearings of all axes clean and in good condition. Frequently clean guide rails in dusty environments; metal fragments or powder typically indicate poor lubrication. Regularly check and replace consumable components in the automated lubrication system according to schedule.
02. Cycle Noises          Observation & Listening
Pay close attention to abnormal operational sounds (such as squeal or clicking), which often indicate bearing jamming or structural seizure. Cables and hoses inside the drag chain should move smoothly and quietly; also observe whether exposed bearings rotate smoothly.
03. Drive System (Rack/Belt)          Backlash & Wear
Watch for motion hesitation or shaking. For rack-and-pinion drives, use a magnetic dial indicator stand to check and adjust gear backlash (simultaneous replacement of both gear and rack is recommended if severely worn). For belt-driven axes, clean off shed belt dust, check pulley alignment, and verify pre-tension.
04. Pneumatic System & Air Lines          Moisture & Leakage
Pay close attention to the pressure regulator filter cup; water accumulation or discoloration indicates excessively high humidity in compressed air, which can cause valve spools to stick and fail. Listen for "hissing" air leaks during pressurization, and inspect air hoses for aging and damage.
05. Molding Equipment Vibration          Equipment Stability
Vibrations from mold opening and closing of the injection molding machine can transfer to the robot and cause damage. Optimize machine movement parameters to reduce impact; for ultra-high-speed operations, installing the robot on a standalone support frame independent of the IMM is recommended.
06. Cables & Drag Chain Wear          Wiring Safety
Finding black wear powder on the surface of the robot indicates signs of cable friction and abrasion. Regularly check the condition of power and encoder cables inside the drag chain and along fixed routes, ensuring secure tie-down to prevent wire breakage faults.
