Generally, label film wrinkling may be caused by reasons such as the label film being difficult to fit well with the mold cavity, molten material flowing unsmoothly or unbalancedly, the label film being over-stretched or squeezed, air entrapment occurring in the cavity during filling, or a large difference in shrinkage performance between the label film and the labeled product.
In the in-mold labeling (IML) process, label wrinkling is often the result of multiple overlapping factors: "product structure, mold design, process parameters, and material selection." Controlling wall thickness and fillets from the source, combined with reasonable filling and shrinkage control, is the key to improving product yield.
