Q

What Are the Common "Alarm Faults" of Injection Molding Machine Robots? What Aspects Should Routine Preventive Maintenance (PM) Focus On?

A

In injection molding automated production, the stable operation of the robot directly determines the utilization rate of the entire production line. Once a robot fails and shuts down, it will force the injection molding machine to wait or even shut down for cooling, bringing unnecessary energy and time losses.

       Analysis of Common Alarm Faults

01. Signal Interaction Fault
Safety door / mold opening permission signal interruption: usually caused by poor contact of the EUROMAP signal interface, a blocked safety light curtain, or an offset position sensor switch (magnetic switch).
02. Vacuum / Air Pressure Alarm
Mostly caused by insufficient air source pressure, ruptured and leaking air pipes, worn suction cups unable to seal air, or filters clogged by dust.
03. Servo Overload / Over-Limit Alarm
Usually because the end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) is too heavy, the guide rails lack lubrication causing increased friction resistance, or minor interference has occurred between the robot and the mold.

Routine Preventive Maintenance (PM) Key Points

Air Circuit & Suction System Inspection            Weekly
Clean plastic dust in the vacuum filter, check air pipes for aging cracks, and timely replace worn and deformed silicone suction cups.
Mechanical Transmission Lubrication            Monthly
Regularly apply specified grease to X/Y/Z axis linear guides, ball screws/gear racks, and clean oil stains and impurities to prevent wear.
Belt & Fastener Inspection            Quarterly
Check timing belt tension to prevent inaccurate positioning; tighten end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) and each axis screws to prevent loosening due to high-frequency vibration.
Electrical & Sensor Calibration            Semi-Annually
Check drag chain cables for wear and damage, test limit switches, origin sensors, and safety light curtain response to ensure safety mechanisms are normal.
